POLARIS MOVING TO MEXICO
Minnesota's online news source "MPR NEWSQ" reports
"Polaris CEO Scott Wine says the company is closing the Osceola Wis. plant and opening a facility in Mexico to get closer to key customers and to cut labor costs.
The company expects the move will help it eventually save $30 million a year, with much of the savings coming from lower wages. Officials didn't detail how much lower the wages would be in Mexico, though.
The Osceola plant, about 25 miles north of Stillwater, employs 515 workers, who make parts for the company's snowmobiles, ATVs and Victory motorcycles.

Harley-Davidson has issued a massive recall for its 2009-2012 model years. The recall remedies possible rear brake issues for its Touring, CVO Touring and Trike lineups. More than 250,000 units in the U.S. market are potentially affected by the recall, which is issued by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA).
An NHTSA recall affects more than 250,000 Harley-Davidson motorcycles from The Moto Company's Touring, CVO Touring and Trike model lines.Excessive heat from the exhaust system is to blame for the recall. The heat could cause the rear brake light switch to malfunction. The NHTSA recall states: “The excessive heat may cause the switch to not activate the brake lamp or activate the brake lamp when no brake is applied and/or cause a brake fluid leak at the brake light switch, affecting rear brake performance.”
Owners of the affected models will be contacted by Harley-Davidson. They will be entitled to free installation of a new brake light switch at dealers. The recall is expected to begin at the end of October. Riders can contact Harley-Davidson directly for more information at 1-414-343-4056.
