ROBBIE KNIEVEL TO JUMP BUDWEISER TRUCKS

Robbie Knievel will jump over 180 feet of Budweiser trucks in front of the Texas Capitol using a 1,000-foot ramp on Friday, June 12th at 11 pm at the ROT event in June. This will be Knievel’s first jump since New Years Eve in Las Vegas when he made a 200-foot jump over the newly renovated Mirage Hotel volcano, while it erupted.

The 15th annual biker rally will take place on June 11-14 in Austin, Texas. Last year 45,000 bikers took part in the parade and 200,000 visited Austin during the event, which makes it the 5th largest rally of any kind in America.
Jesse James, the man behind Monster Garage, might die. But I doubt it. His new television show “Jesse James is a Douchebag Dead Man” is Jesse toying with death through a variety of different feats and stunts he will perform.

And by toying with death I mean he’ll be taking as many safety precautions as possible to make sure that death is not even in the equation. What does that spell? Well, I’m sure you’ll see some cool stuff like explosions and cars doing flips on the show but no real serious danger.

But hey, it’s TV, not a snuff film! I don’t know about you but after watching the “Making of a Dead Man” documentary on the show, I can’t help but roll my eyes. There seems to be a lot of hype on that show about things that just don’t impress me. It also seems that Jesse’s cast and crew think that pretty much everything will kill him.

The TV Network SPIKE will be airing Jesse’s new show starting on May 31st (this Sunday) for all who are interested in explosions and machismo. Probably the best way to watch it is with a bikini clad girl in one hand, and some NOS Energy Drink in the other while listening to Kid Rock. Extreme.

You've probably heard the term 'girls bike' at some point, especially if you've ever owned a Suzuki SV650 or Ducati Monster 695.
But sexism aside, a lot of us lady riders have specific requirements from a motorcycle and these 5 models meet them perfectly - they're also damn good bikes in their own right and shouldn't be overlooked by anyone.
Thinking of trading in? Sell your bike with MCN for £9.99
All of the 'girls bikes' below are great fun for novices and experts alike, but they also appeal to lady riders because they're easy to ride, boast a low seat height and possess bags of style.
Top 5 naked roadsters for under £3k
Here's 5 so-called girls bikes that are really so much more:

Suzuki Gladius (2009-current)"The old SV650 was a good bike and to be honest Suzuki didn’t have to do much to make it a great bike once more. But they have gone one better and given us an excellent bike. Obvious improved looks but the real beauty it’s under the skin, the lovely fuelled, smooth, punchy, little V-Twin. As an added extra bonus it’s easy to ride, yet still fun at the same time."

Ducati Monster 695 (2006-2008)"The Ducati Monster 695 was revitalised with more capacity, better equipment and brakes and all-new paintjobs. Cheeky handling, verve and novice-friendliness are unchanged, however. The Ducati Monster 695 is the cheapest way into Ducati style."

Kawasaki Ninja 250R (2008-current) "The little Kawasaki Ninja 250R is a lithesome agile number that makes the most of narrow tyres, high-ish bars and minimalist 154 dry weight figure. It all adds up to make town work and B-road rides a hoot. A brave move by Kawasaki because the Ninja is virtually in a class of its own. Trend setting? Maybe."

Suzuki SV650 (1999-current) "The Suzuki SV650 is a straightforward middleweight V-twin all-rounder which proves you don’t have to be boring to be practical. The SV650 is versatile, affordable, a doddle to ride (making it popular with inexperienced riders) and yet is a hoot to muck about on - or even to race."

Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 (1993-current)"The cheapest route to Harley ownership and arguably the purest. The carbed, 883cc Evolution engine has masses of grunt low down but wheezes at it approaches the ton mark, but it's the essence of customisable cool."

Regardless where a rider falls on the subject of organizations that are categorized as 'motorcycle gangs' by authorities or the popular media, it has been a busy week in the news for such groups.

In Buffalo, New York what could be considered the largest number of arrests in many months occurred when authorities took into custody twenty members and associates of the Chosen Few Motorcycle Club. Accused of various crimes, including attacks against a rival biker club they were charged with felony racketeering conspiracy charges.

According to acting U. S. Attorney Kathleen M. Mehltretter and FBI Special Agent Laurie J. Bennett, the men allegedly conspired to commit bombings, arsons, assaults and murders of their rivals.

Police feel motorcycle gangs are looking to young street gangs such as the Muslim Brotherhood Movement and the Parra Boys for members using "range of attractive ways" to recruit members which could include drugs and the "romantic misdemeanor" of being part of a bikie gang.

The legislation is part of a crackdown following a brawl at Sydney airport in March between the Hells Angels and Comanchero gangs which resulted in one man's death.

The authority to have a club or group declared a criminal organization was passed last month allowing police to petition Australia's Supreme Court to do so. None have been named or submitted to date and while police have no comment on the progress of the new process, politicians have told reporters authorities 'are well along the way to submit names for consideration'.

The announcement of the pending legislation came as authorities raided 31 premises with links to the Hells Angels. The latest raids come on the heels of 69 arrests, resulting in 147 charges and seizing more than 30 weapons, large quantities of drugs and luxury vehicles including a Bentley.

Reportedly, police also seized a car linked to the deadly brawl at Sydney Airport.

Harley-Davidson announces executive changes

MILWAUKEE (May 1, 2009) - Harley-Davidson, Inc. (NYSE:HOG) announced today that John Olin, the Motor Company’s Vice President and Controller, will take on the added responsibility of interim Chief Financial Officer for Harley-Davidson, Inc. and that Perry Glassgow, the Company’s Vice President and Treasurer, will also serve as the interim President of Harley-Davidson Financial Services (HDFS), effective immediately.
The appointments follow the departure of Harley-Davidson’s CFO and HDFS interim President Tom Bergmann, who is leaving to seek other career opportunities. Bergmann joined Harley-Davidson in 2006.

The Company also announced that it has named Mark Kornetzke, currently Senior Director, Financial Reporting, as the Company’s Chief Accounting Officer.

Olin brings more than 25 years of financial leadership to the interim CFO role. Before joining Harley-Davidson in 2003, Olin served for 12 years in various financial roles at Kraft Foods, Oscar Mayer Foods and Miller Brewing Company, including his responsibilities as controller of Kraft Foods’ cheese division. Earlier in his career, he held positions with financial services and specialized consulting firms including Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). Olin also is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Glassgow joined HDFS in 1992 and has held progressively senior-level positions within HDFS, including Controller and Treasurer, before being named Harley-Davidson, Inc. Treasurer in 2007. Kornetzke, who also holds a CPA designation, is a 13-year veteran of the Company. Before joining Harley-Davidson, Kornetzke was a senior auditor with Deloitte & Touche LLP.

“We are fortunate to have these well-experienced leaders who are deeply knowledgeable and highly involved in our business assume these critical roles as we conduct an internal and external search for these two key positions,” said Keith Wandell, Harley-Davidson, Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer. “We also wish to thank Tom for his many contributions to our business and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Help needed to change law to exclude youth-model motorcycles and ATVs Change the Law to Exclude Youth-Model Motorcycles and ATVs

Write your Representatives Today!

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has voted to stay enforcement of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) that currently bans the sale of youth-model motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The stay, which extends through May 1, 2011, follows a unanimous vote by Acting Chairman Nancy Nord and Commissioner Thomas Moore.

AMA Fails Youth Riders, Turns to Motorcyclists for Direct Lobbying Efforts

AMA Fails Youth Riders, Turns to Motorcyclists for Direct Lobbying Efforts

While we applaud the CPSC commissioners' vote to stay enforcement of the law, this does not solve the real issue, which is the law itself. Despite the stay, it is unclear whether state attorneys general will also decline to enforce the CPSIA. The sale of youth-model motorcycles and ATVs is still technically illegal. Even though a stay means that dealers would not be subject to fines or penalties imposed by the CPSC, state attorneys general would still be able to prosecute violators if they chose to do so. Youth-model motorcycles and ATVs should be exempt from the law, and Congress needs to act to make that happen.

Motorcyclists and ATV riders need to let Congress know that we are concerned about the law, and that we want youth-model OHVs excluded from the law. We need your help to let our lawmakers know how we feel. Riders should contact their Representatives and ask them to support H.R. 1587, introduced by Rep. Denny Rehberg, to exempt youth-sized motorcycles and ATVs from the CPSIA.

You can find contact information for your elected officials on AmericanMotorcyclist.com, click on "Rights," then "Issues & Legislation," and enter your zip code in the "Find your Officials" box. Additionally, a prewritten e-mail is available for you to send to your Representative immediately by following the "Take Action" option and entering your information.

For more ways you can help to exclude youth-model motorcycles and ATVs from the CPSIA or for more information about the issue, click here. Man charged with running Colorado motorcycle chop shop

9News.com • April 23, 2009

DENVER - The Attorney General's office says a man accused of running a statewide motorcycle chop shop for at least three years is facing several felonies.

An indictment handed down Thursday accuses Edward Degner, 54, of committing 18 different crimes. The indictment says Degner used his Rifle-based business, Ed's Custom Painting, to steal the bikes.

The motorcycles used in the chop shop were stolen from the Denver area and other parts of the state and targeted several brands including Harley Davidson and American Iron Horse, according to the indictment. Degner is suspected of stealing the bikes, switching and destroying the identification numbers in addition to re-stamping fraudulent VINs onto the vehicles and concealing their identity by repainting them.

Degner's charges include 14 counts of first-degree aggravated motor theft. His next court date is set for May 11.
